Why Call it Float freely

When my daughter was in class X, I started teaching her physics and Mathematics. Our favourite way to study was what we called 'Float freely". We will start with one topic and from there seamlessly move to a related topic, say I was teaching her laws of motion and so we will start looking at how to draw a graph of velocity vs time and then start figuring out how to find out the area under the curve which turned out to be the distance travelled. The next natural step was to let her figure out why it is so!!! Once she has done it, I will try to show her that integration actually does it!!!!! Or that the area for a uniformly accelerated particle is an area of a trapezium. When we started talking of a trapezium, we will try to figure out that sum of an Arithmatic progression series of numbers can be found by the same formula as that of a trapezium. So somewhere we had connected lot of apparently disconnected things and that was the result of float!!!!!!!

  1. Yeah...nd though initially i found it prrtty difficult to understand why he wud shift from one subject to another.....nd wud b rather upset with him....bt much later did i understand the beauty of it all nd how they are all inter related nd wud be awstruck on how he could mix everything nd teach them all so easily....unique way of teaching it was.....
